happy thursday

there is beauty in the world

so much beauty in the world
always beauty in the world
so much beauty in the world
shake your booty boys and girls
for the beauty in the world

pick your diamond, pick your pearl,
there is beauty in the world

all together now
Heya throw your hands up and holla
Throw your hands up and holla
When you don’t know what to do
Don’t know if you’ll make it through
Remember God is giving you beauty in the world
So love (Beauty in the world)
Yeah love (Beauty in the world)

sitting pretty

i don't mind being in the kitchen so much these days because the persimmons and the teal mug* are looking SoDarnPretty on my sill.
.
.
.
.
*the teal mug was a sweet op shop find, handmade by local artist, Tony Sly. i LOVE.

fairy rainy day

here's a first....Jada did her "schoolwork" before breakfast this morning!
the reason?
a fairy garden was waiting to be made :)

we used left-over grass seed we had but by chance saw chia seeds at the supermarket today so will add them tomorrow because they look so cool.
man i wished i'd had a fairy garden when i was her age... :)

facebook giveaway

introducing...
...Susie Sweetness.
currently up-for-grabs.
rules: 'fan' my facebook page (here)
if someone from your friends list fans as well, let me know and i'll give you another entry.
sooo, the more friends you get to join, the more chances you have :)
until end of April

sweet haul

oh, the unwanted fabric market! shoulda been there. it was just what i'd hoped.... a treasure chest of cheap treats. all of the following were between 50c - $2.50 of very old cottons that were in immaculate condition.
(warning: serious fabric candy following, you may need to sit down!)

i know, right? i must admit to squealing out loud and consciously deep-breathing a number of times. it proved entirely ineffective because i got a migraine as we drove away...the excitement proved too much for me (i guess i'm more like my MIL than i care to admit! :) )
anyway, i feel much too greedy to keep all this for myself so i might put together a wee "sampler" pack to give away sometime this week.

MAKE my Week #16

it was my brother's birthday on Wednesday and i made this cushion for him out of old pairs of jeans.

allow me to explain:

my baby brother (the youngest of 4) should absolutely NOT have made it to 27 years old. the fact that he is that old even astounds me. (in my mind he is still around 13 years old!!). he was born a big fat chubby 10lb baby (my parent's first son) but quickly turned into a scrawny ET look-alike (my mother's description, not mine!) with a perpetual blue tinge around his mouth. he was born with an inoperable heart condition - specifically, Tetralogy of the Fallot

he was given "a week or so" to live.

as a result of his condition, his heart has been beating like someone who has just completed a 100m sprint for the last 27 years. basically, he feels like a tired old man (and still as scrawny as ever!). for him to be 27 years is a miracle.

and then there's the british thing. he is nuts on anything british - castles especially. last year, by no minor miracle he made it to England...(and even more miraculous, he made it back!). and so, the british flag cushion cover :) hope he likes...

ps. i took pics of how i made it if anyone would like to see :)

i'm in no hurry

this was us 2 years ago. almost entirely identical to our life today, except everyone moved up a spot and a whole lot of sleepless nights, nappies and meals in between.

almost thoroughly depressing if i think about it for too long.

how can time go that fast? *blink* did i completely miss it?

it's so entirely cliche but time really does fly.

i'm constantly reminding myself that these (busy and demanding) days are such a brief moment in time and that before i know it these rowdy kids will be gone and our home will be so still and quiet that i'd give anything to have some Constant Chatter to fill the silence.

i wished i could know now what i will know and understand in 20 years time. unfortunately that's impossible, so until then i employ what i like to call, Faux Perspective. i pretend i'm 20 years down the track and looking back.

when i do this, i realise that it'll only be a minute and i'll have all the time in the world to go to art classes, sew and craft, have coffee dates with girlfriends.... and a very tidy house.

but for now i pray for joy in this season and to truly see it for all it's richness, so that i won't be sitting in my quiet, very clean house looking back with regret and shame.

arts&craft meets petrol&engines

we "acquired" corporate box passes to the V8 supercars over the weekend.

we really blended in with the petrol-heads and naked scantily-clad females

that's corporate view (and food) right thur.

....

it was ok. can say we've been now i guess and i'm pleased we didn't have to pay for it.
def made me thankful i married a guy who doesn't own one single item of clothing with Ford or Holden written on it. i had enough of that growing up :)

inspire me!

Katie, from Skunkboy Creatures did an owl-only shop update.

they kill me with cuteness. i love that they all look so unique even though she's done a whole run of them.
her etsy shop is here - don't count on ever purchasing anything though, her stuff sells in seconds!
i (totally) heart skunkboy creatures! (don't you?)
