{A portrait of our family, once a week, every week, in 2013}
The Summer House.
Our last day at our little house by the harbour in the Far North - our third coffee of the day, after hours of scrubbing, sweeping and packing.
.........
Now I feel I need a disclaimer for our weekly self timer pics, (because sometimes joining in with this linky where there is PHENOMENAL talent makes me feel like I'm participating in a photography competition) -
>We are recording these moments for ourselves, to hopefully compile somehow at the end of 52 weeks.
>We don't hire a professional photographer or even shoot on manual, we use the self-timer.
>I really don't want this project to become loathsome for the kids so we take pics as we are - no Pinterest Perfect here.
> Our clothes rarely match, we'll often be in bare feet, and sometimes I'll be dripping sweat and my roots won't have been done for 5 months.
We're snapping our real life, friends.
Thank you to those of you who stop by each week and watch us grow...(now just take another moment to acknowledge the awesomeness of my roots, please #mindblow)

Your roots are awwwwwwesum! And the self timer pics are pretty great too. I haven't been looking too much at the other people following along with this project. I imagine I could get really bummed out at the state of my camera/pics, but I like how your photos capture the real you - you seem like a really fun loving family x
ReplyDeleteI love your pics, roots and all. You should see my hair. It's gotten to the stage where I have stopped plucking out my greys as there are just TOO many now xo
ReplyDeleteI always think real life is more Pin-worthy than a set up one.
ReplyDeleteyou and your family are beautiful - even though i feel like a stalker, i stop by weekly to see your photos, because they're real. better than posed and poised because you almost "feel" the connection!
ReplyDeletethanks for keeping it real Dee.. and for keeping me grounded!! i need your perfectly timed reminders!! ;) xx (great roots by the way!!)
ReplyDeleteperfect in your imperfections!!....I just love this shot with the open door. do you know your pics tell a beautiful story?...I hope so. x
ReplyDeleteps even if that story tells us your due a pamper session at the hairdressers lol x
Oh just how it should be....love your shots each week. xxx
ReplyDeleteroots smoots, trying too hard just ends up looking all wrong to me. you guys are lovely.
ReplyDeleteI haven't linked in at all because I figure no one really wants to see my totally average photos except my family and that's okay with me. I always look forward to yours xx
ReplyDeleteI look forward to your family photos every week. I like catching a glimpse into other people's real lives (or why read blogs right?) and your family is too cute. I think it will be a great memento to have down the road as your kids are growing up. I haven't seen other participants in this project, but I don't think I'd be as eager to see perfectly posed and dressed up photos every week. I imagine it's a feat to get the family together in a photo every week just as they are!
ReplyDeleteI think your 52 photos are one of my favourites anyway. They ooze the love your family have for one another. I think that's better and more fulfilling than any matchy matchy perfect lighting shot any day. And about your roots...just say you're going for the ombre look!
ReplyDeleteI cant say I thought of it as a photo comp *shrugs* People have different cameras, some use phones, some are professionals. It's about making memories and I think we all are doing that.
ReplyDeleteSelf timers are cool because you know, in X amount of years time you will never have the question "where were you" because you are right there joining in. ♥
What I love about your family and your photos are that they're both so real and beautiful. Thank goodness you're not all matching or have shoes on - that doesn't seem to be your style.
ReplyDeleteSome family photos will be like that - it doesn't mean their families are better or worse then yours, you're all just different. Which is a bloody hard thing to remember in blog land some time.
I'll take real life over staged any day!
ReplyDeleteLove that you keep it real and loving these pics of your whanau.
x
I'm loving the family shots so much. Keep em real. Each week I try to work out who pressed the camera's button and ran back to get in the shot. This week I reckon it was Ty?
ReplyDeleteYour young... you've got nothing to hide! Your family is wonderful. I wish I had thought of the idea when our kids were growing up... they grow to quickly and to be honest... this is the only way you will notice the change/growth!
ReplyDeletei love it that you share real life...your life is beautiful, bare feet, kids in creative outfits and all. x

Your roots are awesome! Hell, I haven't had a haircut in 3 years and I only have 3 kids. I really don't know how you make 5 look like such fun!I love the realness and rawness of all your family photos. We still don't have even one family shot. I think I'll have to play with our self-timer too. Thanks for the inspiration.
